Haight Ashbury
The first Haight Street Fair was held in 1978, and the Neighborhood Oral History project was there. The fair, supported and guided by Supervisor Harvey Milk, was launched to celebrate the street’s economic and social recovery from the devastation wreaked by the 1960s, which bottomed out In 1967 with the Summer of Love. Still going strong, the fair in 2022 featured 200 food and merch booths and more than a dozen bands.
